  • Every penny collected is spent on worthy causes.
  • We fund all administration through our own subscriptions. 
  • Almost all our funds go to local causes.

  • One of our major events is our Laurel Park Fireworks Display
  • We meet every month at Sonning Golf Club on each third Tuesday
  • Every Christmas we take our Santa Sleigh around the streets of Woodley

  • Above all we have fun raising funds and helping others

Every penny supports good causes

 

 
 

Lions clubs help local communities in a number of ways with every penny collected in the British Isles – going direct to good causes.

Not one penny is spent on administration as Lions club running costs are funded by members. Just ask any Lions member how we make every penny/cent count.

for the Local Community.

2015  donations

£970 Donated towards a Family based Summer outing involving some 50 children under the Local My Family Matters Programme.

£400 Contribution towards operational cost of Local CRUSE Bereavement Centre.

£1450 for  purchase of an Air Condition system for the Sensory Room at Loddon Court for Respite Care.

£2065 Donated to Daisy's Dream.

Motor Scooter for Malanie

Our club provided £300 to replace a scooter for a local resident who had the previous one stolen.  The was in conjunction with Thames Valley Police

Age Concern Woodley

Our club were proud to donate £3000 to Age Concern in Woodley.  The money is to be used to equip a room to be used by people suffering with dementia.  This then provides their carer's with much needed respite.

​SERV

We are particularly proud of the donation of a motorcycle which cost £7500 to SERV who move blood and other essential materials around the UK on an entirely charitable basis.  The motorcycle was presented to SERV at the Royal Berks Hospital.

Helen and Douglas House

Recent presentation of a cheque for £1450 to Helen and Douglas House. Woodley and Earley Lions raised this money through its annual Tree of Light event which takes place every Christmas at the Woodley precinct.

Hort Garden Project 

A donation of £2000 was made to the Hort Garden Project which provides young people with facilities to learn about and take part is practical horticultural activities.
